Old beams with a second life.
INSIDEA designed this homepage for a reclaimed barn and mill timber yard. Oldgrove Reclaimed Timber is a fictional brand, so the names, people and numbers on the page are invented.

A reclaimed timber yard in Ebbsfield, New York that salvages beams and flooring from old barns and mills and sells them by the board foot, with a homepage built around the yard itself: dark walnut, cream type, weathered red and faded teal, a bold looping script display and a filterable inventory of tagged lots with a cut-list total.
The brief
Architects specifying reclaimed wood need to know what is actually in the yard, how much of it there is and where it came from. The first screen must show live stock by species, size and source building, with a way to start a cut list.
The direction
Barn-wood warmth, with a dark walnut ground, cream type and a characterful script for headings. The hero inventory filters eight lots from four buildings, each with its pieces, board feet and price, and adds picks to a running cut list.
The detail
One 8 by 10 beam 18 feet long is 120 BF, 22 of them make 2,640 BF, and $36,960 of timber plus $1,188 planing and $240 delivery totals $38,388; the eight lots add up to the 15,628 BF in stock. On structural use, the page leaves the final call to your engineer.
