The brief
School boards have to vote on a construction price without seeing how it was built up or whether it will hold. Show the project's estimate checkpoints, board votes and groundbreaking on one timeline in the first screen.
The direction
Civic and clear, with a wide expanded sans in slate on white and red and green markers. The hero is a timeline for an 86,000 sq ft school from design through bids, with estimate checkpoints, board meetings and the latest estimate measured against the board budget.
The detail
The GMP lines of $35,600,000, $2,529,600, $1,139,200, $1,068,000 and $427,200 add to $40,764,000, which sits $516,000 under the $41,280,000 board budget. The page does not claim a perfect record: it says 26 of its 31 GMPs were set at or under the board's budget.
